Simply refer any business client to our website to compare prices. They fill in one simple form and we’ll return a set of offers for them by email.

If they want to proceed with an offer we’ll send them an e-sign application and ensure the switch goes as smoothly as possible. When we get paid by the supplier they choose, we pay you 50% of our commission. This can be a lump sum or monthly residual payments dependent on the supplier involved and their payment schedules.

So as an example a typical high street business spending £5000 will earn you about £100 a year.

You’ll need to register as a broker with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme. The fee is currently £300 per year (without this energy suppliers will not deal with you).

You'll need a domain name and somewhere to host your website (£30 a month appox ).

You'll need internet & phone access and a laptop/PC/Mac ( but you probably have that already).

A professional email marketing software platform to store your client data (£15 a month).

You'll need a Data Protection Licence which is £35 a year. 

You may want to consider advertising on major search engines like Google/Yahoo etc. at whatever level suits you. You should earn about double what you spend. 

If (and only if) you would like instant prices on your website so business customers can ‘self serve’ allow for a monthly cost of about £300 but this is not a requirement.

Remember this business cost me more than £20,000 to set up back in 1998. You'll be starting your online price comparison business for a tiny fraction of my cost and be in profit very quickly!

Can it be done online?

For houses of all sizes they can use our online instant price calculators to compare and switch online. Businesses just submit one simple form and you return bespoke quotes with whatever margin you want to build into the retail price. At an additional monthly cost you can install ‘self service pricing and switching’ software on your website for the customer to use themselves. However we find conversion is much higher when you engage your client as a broker and build a relationship with them. Clients will come back to you, year after year, as you will be their trusted advisor.

We offer a FREE service as suppliers pay us the royalties.

How much competition is there?

We're in a vibrant competitive and continuous market; the UK is the most deregulated market in the world. We as brokers have a larger client base than Accountants with some 28.4 million electricity and 20.9 million gas customers.

Can't I set this business up myself without paying you ?

You possibly could but...

Earnings are determined by these main factors:

1. Marketing: Recent research to date shows that for every £1 spent on marketing you can expect to earn £3. Therefore if your target income in year 1 is say £25,000 you should spend £8250 a year or £687 a month. As your business grows you plan to re-invest a similar percentage of your income in marketing to 'lever' your income.

2. Effort. Like any business the more you put in the more you'll receive.

3. Turnover of clients utility spend. You can choose to target lots of smaller accounts or concentrate on serving just a few clients with larger utility costs...the choice is yours.

Your business earning potential:

100% of supplier commissions, no royalties payable to us ongoing.

Typical business commission of 1p a kwh on electric and 0.5p a kwh on gas. In simple terms that’s £250 a sale for typical SME supplies but up to £2000 on larger sites.

Typical mains water commissions of £150 a sale.

Typical commercial waste commissions of £150 per site.
